huh, 24 july of 2024. that’s something, i guess. time surely seems to fly. guess just like the concept of death, it’s impossible for the human brain to understand things, and the passage of time also seems like that. i mean, isn’t it weird how we perceive it? time passes and things eventually happen. something that used to be an appointment becomes reality.

i think it also relates to pleasure/etc, does pleasure as the center of your life decisions matter when it’s so fleeting and stuff.

i’ve been using chatgpt a SHITTON since pretty much it’s initial release. not to brag, but working in software and also being familiar with language models for fun, i know a bit about it’s strengths/weaknesses so i like to find ways for it to make my life easier. i use it mostly for coding tasks, simple translations, asking for synonyms/trying to recall words, etc.

ill be honest, gpt4o is pretty fucking underwhelming after all the chest beating openai did about the multimodal shit they originally announced in their spring update. after their fiasco with indirectly copying the Scarlett Johansson, they’re taking their sweet ass time to release it.

i’ve been paying the 20$/month chatgpt premium garbage since it came out, but nowadays the value i get is ridiculously low. i think i’d rather save the 240$/year and spend it on api credit i can get 100% value out of whenever i want

sonnet 3.5 (which is free via their web interface) is pretty fuckin’ impressive, it just knows a lot of things and has good reasoning for a mid-tier model. opus 3.0 is also very, VERY good at human/creative writing, and i think opus 3.5 will be a biggg upgrade. once in a while i chuck 5$ at their api and use opus to write random shit, like character sheets for roleplaying, etc. it’s really good at that.

but yeah, tl;dr fuck giving openai free money

man ive spent so much social (and overall) energy in the past week that i just wanna have an entire week of just chilling

hey kiki! glad to hear from ya. yeah, it was nice! i hosted a friend for a few days, and i managed to not have many truly cringe moments, so it was nice. i mean, i actually enjoyed it a lot, which is rare for me; guess it's a person i really connect with.

that's very nice to hear about!
also, I lost access to my email address, because now I have a new internet, but since my old IP said I was somewhere else and now the new IP says where I actually live, Google thinks I want to hack it.
but I can regain access, because there is another house where I used to log in, so no problem there.
