fuck arch

okay, i hope im not the only IDIOT that daily drives linux. i use arch and while i think it’s a great example of community (non corporate) driven development, it also FUCKING SUCKS in some instances.

i have 2k packages on my desktop, since i do a lot of different stuff, especially dev related. i more or less keep everything up-to-date, since that’s the only way to have security fixes and such.

well, therein lies the issue. RANDOM SHIT will break. and you won’t even notice until you go do a specific thing, and it doesn’t work. and then you have to waste hours and hours like an idiot searching for the fix; or just give up completely, like i just did.

i run android studio for android development and out of the fucking blue, the emulator doesn’t work anymore. well, it works, it starts, but i can’t interact with it; clicks dont seem to go trough.

so, since it worked perfectly well last boot, and it doesn’t anymore, i think it’s safe to say something related to updates broke it, since i haven’t done ANYTHING at all to it. i’m so fucking mad i’m downloading android studio on my windows machine and i’ll try my luck there, but honestly, fuck arch linux.

    me neither

also as me using mint purely so my old computer works okay, i don't know how you got 2k packages, guess arch is pretty different.

    well uh, bye!

Arch is actually pretty minimal, he mentioned he does a lot of different stuff -- that's how he got 2k packages. I personally use Artix (btw) and have <800 packages

yee, i do a lot of different things, i guess... audio/video stuff, editing, software dev, virtualization, etc.

now that i calmed down (lol), i do think at that scale/amount of packages shit will break because (1) it's impossible to test all interactions between all packages and (2) it's rolling release

but it does still make me hella mad when i pacman -Syu and then stuff randomly breaks...
